Balsa wood comes from Central America, tropical South America and, in particularly from Ecuador.
What it is and what it is for
End grain Balsa panels with grain running in the direction of the thickness, perpendicular to the length and width. These boards are used for cores of light weight sandwich panels as an alternative to PVC foam.
Thanks to its honeycomb structure, the Rigid Balsa panel has an extremely high strength-to-weight ratio (compression strength of more than 100 kg/cm²).
Extensively used for thermal and sound insulation and, in general, as a core material in light-weight sandwich constructions.
- superior sound and thermal insulation properties
- high moisture resistance
